Sales Manager
Description:
Main functions: Responsible for all sales operations, related administrative services, and support functions within the Sales area. Assumes responsibility for managing Account Executives and support staff, and directing and coordinating all area activities. Ensures that personnel are adequately trained, efficient and effective. Maintains and promotes trade contacts and ensures that Company sales promotions are properly executed. Assist in develops and executeing sales plans and goals designed to increase sales and profits and to minimize expenses. Responsible for the growth and development of sales for assigned campaigns.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties:
- 1. Assumes responsibility for the implementation of Company sale and marketing programsand assits the in their planning, development.
- Assists Senior Management with long and short run strategic planning.
- Oversees the implementation of strategic planning for the Sales area. Ensures sales activities complement and support established Company-wide goals.
- Implements sales promotions, operational plans, policies, and goals which further strategic objectives.
- Forecasts both long and short term sales and volume growth, sales by unit, expenses, and capital expenditures.
- Establishes and implements programs to meet merchandising, new account, and productivity goals.
- 2. Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of sales functions within the Sales areas.
- Conducts formal reviews of sales and marketing activities. Corrects variances in performance.
- Prepares sales goals for Account Executives and processing goals for Order Processors.
- Coordinates client billing and ensures it is accurate and timely.
- Ensures that accounts are serviced and merchandised in accordance with Company standards.
- Develops call scripting and call flows for Account Executives.
- Maintains the integrity of all pricing and marketing programs.
- Conducts inspections of sales activities and facilities to ensure the maintenance of established sales standards.
- Keeps informed regarding the area’s competitive position and competitors’ actions.
- Ensures sales results meet or exceed established objectives.
- 3. Assumes responsibility for the effective administration of Account Executive functions.
- With the General Manger Develops oderating budgets. Manages and oversees expenses. Pursues cost-saving measures and monitors usage of equipment and supplies.
- Keeps Senior Management informed of activities and progress toward established objectives. Coordinates with management and with other sales areas to ensure consistency in promotional activities.
- Establishes effective reporting and communication with Account Executives to ensure they are appropriately informed of expectations, polices, and programs.
- Completes required sales reports, call reports, and related documents promptly and accurately. Ensures the accuracy of all reports and accounting records.
- Ensures that all Account Executives have necessary equipment, supplies, and merchandising materials.
- Ensures Account Executives complete call logs of all calls placed.
- 4. Effectively supervises Account Executive personnel, ensuring optimal performance.
- Provides leadership to Account Executives through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication.
- Ensures that personnel are well-trained, effective, and optimally used.
- Provides feedback to Account Executives on phone sales techniques. Provides training as necessary.
- Conducts performance appraisals as required. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed.
- Fills vacant positions as promptly as possible. Conducts interviews.
- Develops incentive programs for area personnel.
- Actively seeks to develop the sales team and maintain a high level of morale.
- Ensures adequate staffing levels for each campaign, promotion, etc.
- 5. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good business relations with customers, vendors, and trade professionals.
- Contacts key accounts regularly. Maintains professional relations with customers.
- Responds to customer requests and resolves problems promptly.
- Ensures that customers are informed of Company policies and promotions.
- Ensures that the Company’s quality reputation is maintained.
- 6. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Assists Account Executives in various duties as required.
- Ensures that work areas are clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Attends meetings and participates in conference calls as required.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
- Sales and profit goals are met or exceeded. Expenses are controlled and well-managed.
- Sales forecasts, plans, and programs are appropriate and effective. Sales objectives are executed in accordance with approved policies.
- Current customer accounts are maintained or expanded and additional ones solicited. Good business relationships exist with customers and their needs are properly anticipated and satisfied.
- Account Executives are well-trained, motivated, efficient, and effective.
- Management is appropriately informed of Sales activities and significant problems. Useful, current feedback regarding operations and competitive conditions is provided.
- Required records and reports are accurate and timely.
Qualifications:
- Education/Certification:
- High school graduate or equivalent. College level business and marketing coursework
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Required Knowledge:
- Familiarity with Company sales and merchandising standards, policies and procedures, and competitive position.
- Knowledge of the industry
- Skills/Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal, public relations, and oral presentation skills.
- Excellent sales abilities
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent supervisory and leadership abilities

- Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally (Almost all office job)
Working Conditions:
- Temperature controlled office environment with minimal warehouse exposure. May require some local or domestic travel
