Main functions: This position solicits sales and/or product appointments for sales people over the telephone. 

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  1. Places sales calls to prospective customers; offers explanation of service/product and pricing/ordering information.
  2. At the discretion/approval of the Account Executive places sales calls to current customers to offer promotions and new or upgraded products.
  3. Encourages customers to buy products; receives, records, and routes customer orders in appropriate manner.
  4. At the instruction of the Account Executive contacts customers to follow-up on customer satisfaction issues or solicit further sales.
  5. Documents all contacts, actions, and responses in customer database.
  6. Organizes and maintains file system; files correspondence and other records.
  7. Maintains working knowledge of products and special promotions.
  8. Prepares reports and correspondence as needed.
  9. Assists with marketing projects as needed.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Performance Measurements:

  1. Sales and profit goals are met or exceeded.
  2. Calling levels are maintained at agreed upon level.
  3. Sales ratio is better than 1 to 100.
  4. Management is appropriately informed of Sales activities and significant problems.
  5. Required records and reports are accurate and timely.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification: GED or High School Diploma
  • Required Knowledge: Familiarity with Plastic Express Inc sales and merchandising standards, policies and procedures, and competitive position Experience Required: Minimum of two years of telemarketing sales experience.
  • Skills/Abilities: Strong interpersonal, public relations, and oral presentation skills, sales abilities. Excellent telephone presentation skills Excellent customer service skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient on use of Window Operating System and Networks and willing to learn DDI and other company software Commitment to excellence and high standards Strong organizational skills; able to manage priorities and workflow Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions Acute attention to detail Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

Physical Activities and Requirements of This Position:

  • Talking: Especially when one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly
  • Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and over the telephone.
  • Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate typical office equipment.

Working Conditions:

Temperature controlled office environment with minimal warehouse exposure.

Mental Activities and Requirements of This Position:

  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization Ability to interpret various instructions
  • Mathematics Ability: Ability to compute discount, interest, profit, and loss; commission markup and selling price ratio, proportion, and percentage. Ability to perform very simple algebra
  • Language Ability: Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals, atlases, and encyclopedias in English. Ability to prepare in English memos and reports Ability to communicate vocally in English, distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis; correct punctuation (or sign equivalent) and variation in word order using present, perfect, and future tenses
