I'm one of those people who has been taught from childhood that there are a few basic pieces of equipment you try never to be without. A small first aid kit, gauze pads, alcohol wipes, an adult poncho, a snap and squeeze light sticks, and even a single serving of water are all inside the pack. It takes up nearly no space in a trunk, but the blaze orange makes it very easy to find in case of emergency.
It's not a comprehensive first aid or roadside breakdown kit- but it is the basics you can find yourself in need of whether you're driving cross country or have taken the kids to play in the park. Accidents happen. Thankfully, most of them are the kind where this basic type of kit fits the bill.
With plenty of space in the little pack, you can easily fit in a bottle of sunscreen and bug repellent for those little rambles in the park. If you decide to go a little further afield, there's more than enough room for some energy bars, more water and even a flashlight and knife.
